About Dr. Gornold-Smith

From the UK, Rev. Christopher Gornold-Smith has worked for years as an Assemblies of God missionary and served in educational media development with ICI University of Brussels. He is one of the world’s foremost Old Testament Survey teachers. In recent years he has joined the team of International Media Ministries and now is a key producer in their Bible Stories Video Project.

Gornold-Smith graduated from Elim Bible College (now Regents Theological College, West Malvern, England) in 1961. After college, he served as a pastor in England (Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and Weymouth, Dorset.) In 1965, he became a biblical studies and world religions lecturer at Elim Bible College.

As a teenager, Gornold-Smith was always interested in Christian apologetics and archaeology; the proximity of the British Museum in London gave him the opportunity to pursue that area of his studies. During these years, he became a member of the Anglo-Israel Archaeological Society and the Palestine Exploration Fund which afforded many opportunities to hear from the leading archaeologists and biblical scholars as they updated members of the IEJ and PEF on their latest digs.

In 1982, Gornold-Smith, with his wife Ragna, moved to Brussels, Belgium, to work with ICI (now Global University) in media development. He was appointed an Assemblies of God missionary during his time with ICI.

In 1991, after the collapse of Communism in Europe, Gornold-Smith and his wife went to Bratislava, Slovakia, to help churches emerging from the restrictions of the Communist era. In 2002, he served as a missionary in residence at SAGU, and taught courses in Christian apologetics, Biblical archaeology, and scriptwriting.

From 2003-2010, he began traveling with International Media Ministries to Alcala de Henares, Spain, where he wrote, produced and directed documentary and docudrama video programs. In 2012, He was awarded the Global Legacy Award for lifetime achievement in Christian media from International Media Ministries.

Gornold-Smith and his wife are now retired, but still are very involved with Global University, Chi Alpha student ministry and preaching.
