Waxahachie, Texas – Wednesday, , November 11, 2015 – Victory Media has named Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) a Military Friendly School®. The 2016 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

SAGU Vice President of Enrollment and Retention Eddie Davis shared, “It’s a great honor to be named as a Military Friendly School again for 2016. SAGU deeply appreciates the service of our veterans and strive to make their transition into college as easy and seamless as possible.” He continued, “Many of our current faculty and staff are also veterans who provide additional support for those in or coming out of military service. SAGU is honored to welcome those currently serving in the military and veterans into our SAGU Family year after year.”

For veterans and current service men and women, SAGU offers free counseling, educational benefits, academic assistance and accommodations at the learning center, and waives the application fee. Additionally, SAGU encourages student and staff veteran networking and visits military bases monthly.

SAGU provides a quality learning experience for both active duty military members and military veterans and dependents. Online learning makes Bible-based education a reality for active-duty service members, and the on-campus experience provides a great home for veterans seeking to begin or further their academic career. SAGU works with military members and the VA to process educational benefits efficiently for students.

Since 2012, SAGU has participated in the Yellow Ribbon program that is a fund-matching grant that will cover the cost of the remaining tuition that military families will have to pay out-of-pocket.

Victory Media’s survey-driven lists have been published every year since 2003. “These schools and employers represent the top tier of institutions with leading opportunities for military service members and spouses.”

The Military Friendly® Schools and Military Friendly® Employers lists are published annually in G.I. Jobs® , Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur® magazines .

Victory Media Inc. has led the industry as a ratings entity for over a decade, surveying thousands of institutions and adjudicating lists that capture best practices in recruitment and retention of military employees, students and franchisees.

SAGU Veteran Affairs Coordinator Cynthia Bell added, “I truly enjoy getting to meet with military veteran families in my office and assist them with processing their educational benefits. Veteran students and dependents have a rich and unique influence on the campus and student body, and I consider it a privilege to help them through the benefit process as they pursue Bible-based higher education.”

The list of Military Friendly® Schools was compiled through a free, annual data-driven survey, open to more than 10,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of the Advisory Council .

Research findings are compiled and weighted according to the following categories: Academic Credibility, Support on Campus, Admissions & Orientation, Graduation & Retention Rates, Military Student Body Composition, Career Outcomes, Government Approvals, Tuition Assistance, Flexibility, and Military Spouse Policies.
