Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) is excited to welcome back two familiar faces to help develop the university’s Worship Arts program. Alumna Meredith Jones will be Director of SAGU Worship and the Program Coordinator for the Worship Arts degree while her husband and alumnus, Nathan Jones will serve in the critical role of Production Specialist in the SAGU Worship office this upcoming fall.

“As a team, they will bring a new vision to the worship focus of SAGU, establish new pathways for student engagement and creative works, and serve on a Creative Worship Arts task force to strengthen SAGU’s program, its impact and student involvement,” says Dr. Paul Brooks, Vice President of Academics.

The SAGU Worship office oversees chapels, late-night worship events, worship conferences, worship travel teams, and other related events and activities. Both will be involved in music instruction, talent acquisition and development, discipleship, worship team development, and leader training in addition to specific responsibilities.

“We are most excited about being able to inspire a generation to fall more in love with Jesus.”

“Meredith and I have a desire to partner together to champion, challenge, and inspire students to seek God authentically and whole-heartedly in their worship,” said Nathan.

“We both have such a rich heritage of family members who attended SAGU. In fact, both of us have parents who also taught at SAGU, so it feels great to be able to carry that on. We also met, became close friends and eventually fell in love while students at SAGU, so it will definitely always have a special place in our hearts!”

The Joneses have served as missionaries in London, England, for the past six years leading worship for a church plant called Wellspring Church in the town of North Bushey . They hosted regular worship nights in their home for people with a desire to seek God through extended worship and intercession. While the Joneses have clearly demonstrated a passion and God-given talent for worship, it is their love for people, both believers and nonbelievers, that has driven their ministry. Through their band, “Luxford”, they performed at local venues and community events in London to help bridge the gap between the churched and unchurched.

Meredith and Nathan are accomplished songwriters and musicians having worked on several worship projects including a live worship album, instrumental worship and intercession album, and several studio EPs. “We loved having opportunities to bring out the creativity in others by helping them with songwriting, producing, and recording their original music,” they said.

Although they were blessed and inspired by the work God was doing through their ministry in London, over the past year, they both sensed that a transition would soon be underway for their family.

“When we were contacted by SAGU and told about the positions, we prayed and felt that God had opened a very clear door for our family to move to Texas and begin the next chapter in our lives.”

So Nathan and Meredith along with their three kids, Elijah, 12, Josiah, 10, and Violet, 7, packed their bags to cross the pond excited for what God had in store for them at SAGU.

“God did so much in my life while I was a student at SAGU,” says Meredith. “It was there that my relationship with Him deepened and where I grew in my understanding of His calling on my life. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to invest in a place that has been such a big part of my journey with God.”

“We believe God will use these students in powerful ways for years to come all over the world, and we are so excited to be a part of their journey.”
