Bachelor's degree in Worship Arts

The bachelor's degree in Worship Arts is for students that sense a calling to serve the Lord through worship leading. The degree is based upon foundational elements of music as a discipline—introductory levels of music theory along with a basic understanding of church music history and the evolution of contemporary worship. From there, multiple facets of instruction and mentoring are added that enable worship team building and leading: Musical arranging for background vocals and worship bands, development of worship set lists, spiritual formation of worship teams and individual worship leading techniques.

Students are also taught how and encouraged to write original worship songs, and are familiarized with audio production and recording techniques that can capture and publish their God-given talent. Students in the Worship Arts program have access to SAGU’s best-in-class audio production editing suites to make their original worship songs come to life.

Added to the classroom experience and instruction in techniques is the opportunity for participation on numerous levels in SAGU Worship, the resident chapel worship and traveling ministry of SAGU. Worship in over fifty chapels during the semester is led by student worship teams, and SAGU Worship teams are busy throughout the year traveling to churches and special ministry events in the SAGU region and beyond. SAGU Worship is regularly invited to support AG District youth functions and ministry network conferences, as well as ministry around the world in support of AGWM foreign mission events.
