SAGU Social Work Program

Are you looking to pursue a career in Social Work? The Social Work program at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) is the perfect fit for you!

The SAGU Social Work program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and is part of the University’s overall academic program which is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Our comprehensive curriculum prepares students academically, professionally, and spiritually for quality educational and professional Christian service by providing knowledge and training with an emphasis on understanding how to serve vulnerable populations, such as children and adolescents, persons with disabilities, homeless persons, veterans, and others. This includes providing knowledge and training in generalist social work and related disciplines like research methods, policy analysis, human behavior theories, clinical skills assessment and diagnostic techniques.

We are proud to hold advanced standing CSWE Accreditation that allows our Bachelor of Social Work Graduates entry into accredited Master’s of Social Work (MSW) programs anywhere in the U.S., allowing them to complete their masters in only one year instead of two. The success of our graduates speaks for itself – 100% of our graduating classes since 2021 are employed in social work (or related field) or pursuing a Master’s of Social Work. During your studies at SAGU, you will receive personalized mentorship from professors to help guide you in your coursework and professional development. You will also gain hands-on experience through internships, clinical work, and community service opportunities with local organizations. Our goal is to help you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful in the field of social work. We equip our graduates with an understanding of a Christian perspective coupled with ministry-related outreach endeavors.

We invite you to explore our program and learn more about how SAGU can help prepare you for a successful career in social work.
