Rev. Rick DuBose speaks after being announced as General Treasurer

SAGU now have two alumni sitting on the Executive Leadership Team for the Assemblies of God (AG).

During AG’s General Council on August 10, Reverend Rick Dubose, Superintendent of the North Texas District of the AG and Chairman of the Board of Regents for SAGU, was elected as the General Treasurer. As Rev. DuBose steps into his new role, he will be joining Dr. Alton Garrison, Assistant General Superintendent of the AG and SAGU alumnus.

“The election of Rick DuBose as General Treasurer leaves us with mixed emotions here at SAGU,” said Kermit Bridges, President of SAGU. “We are sad to be losing a very effective Board Chair, but encouraged to know we now have two alum serving in our church's six highest leadership positions as DuBose now joins Alton Garrison, current Assistant General Superintendent.”

Along with his current position as Chairman for the Board of Regents, Rev. DuBose also attended SAGU as a student.

Dr. Alton Garrison attended SAGU in 1966 and later graduated through extension in 1986. He was the national chairman for the university’s Momentum for the New Millennium capital campaign, served on the Board of Regents and was awarded an honorary doctorate from SAGU in December of 1997.

As Rev. DuBose joins Dr. Garrison and the rest of AG’s Executive Leadership team, his vision carries on for the North Texas District. Perhaps his greatest challenge as District Superintendent is achieving 1,000 healthy churches in North Texas. This target is the vision that God gave to Rev. DuBose several years ago. The heart behind this vision is that every community in North Texas would have a healthy Spirit-filled church that plays a powerful role in seeing lost people come to Christ.

“Rita and I love you all so much, and we have been truly blessed by our time in North Texas,” Rev. DuBose says. “Though we will no longer be able to work as closely with the district to help reach 1,000 healthy churches, we know God’s hand is still in it and He’s not done.”
