The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team traveled to east Texas Tuesday evening in a battle against LeTourneau University . The Yellow Jackets coming into the night with a 2-0 record, as well, the Lions knew they had to execute well to leave with a victory. With the game being scoreless for almost 15 minutes, LeTourneau caught a break when they received a corner kick. A perfect pass from Kara Gipson would give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead when Rebekah Stevenson scored the first goal of the game. Moments later, Keely Hayden scored her first goal of the season with a score of 2-0 the Lions dug themselves a hole they wouldn’t be able to get out of. LeTourneau handed SAGU their first loss of the season by a score of 5-0.

The Lady Lions have put together a good start besides an off night on Tuesday, they are ranked in multiple categories in the nation. Their season has been propelled from their high paced offense being ranked 13th in the nation for both shots per game (24.500) and shots on goal per game (14.250), as well as, 28th in total goals with 11.

Dallas Christian College has forfeited their game on Friday so the Lady Lions next match will be next Thursday, 9/13 at Huston Tillotson . The game against the Rams will begin in at 5 pm.


Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
