Waxahachie, TX – The first half of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer match against Wayland Baptist University (WBU) went as planned. The Lady Lions overcame a 1-0 deficit early to lead 3-1 at the half. Unfortunately, good fortune did not continue for SAGU (2-8-0, 0-3-0) as Wayland (5-1-2, 2-0-1) scored four goals in the second half and won the match 5-3.

Lady Lion Review
- SAGU, playing with 13 players, found it difficult in the second half to keep up with the Pioneers who substituted freely throughout the match.
- This was the second match in a row that the Lady Lions have been tied or ahead at halftime against Sooner Athletic Conference competition.
- Evelyn Cabral (SO/Dallas, TX) scored her first two goals of the 2019 season in the contest.
- Taylor Jackson (SO/Springtown, TX) started in goal for the Lady Lions while Sarah Palmer (SR/Grapevine, TX) played in the field. The two have been switching back and forth on goalkeeper duties for the year. Palmer plays in the field when not in goal. Jackson had 11 saves on the day.
- SAGU had 11 shots with 6 shots on goal for the day.

- “We had a 3-1 lead at halftime, however we were unable to consistently take care of the little details during the second half. A team such as Wayland will exploit the little details to their advantage.”
