Waxahachie, Texas—May 8 th —The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) has released the 2018 All-Conference selections and Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) has three on the list. SAGU finished the season with a program high of 30 wins and will compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) regional tournament this week in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Casey Waterman, a junior from Mansfield, Texas was named to the First Team All-Conference selections. Waterman is a pitcher and designated player who made an immediate impact on the field in her first year for the Lions. Waterman has a 1.8 ERA, won 10 games in 19 starts, and had 72 strike-outs in her junior season.

Coach Sarah Harman had high praise for her junior saying, “ Casey’s ability to pitch and lead the team in hitting is why she is on the SAC first team. In our conference it is very difficult to earn first team honors and I am excited that other coaches see what she brings to the table for our program.”

Senior pitcher Rachel Ray was named to the Second Team All-Conference. Ray is a very decorated player for the Lady Lions. She has earned numerous Pitcher of The Week Awards from the Sooner Athletic Conference and from the National Christian College Athletic Association. “Rachel and Casey have both led us in the circle this year and it is great that two pitchers can be recognized by the SAC.”

Senior Kristin Stringer was voted the SAC Golden Glove Award. Stringer is a catcher and third baseman for the Lady Lions and has been a four-year starter. She started all 52 games for SAGU this season driving in 39 runs and had three homeruns.
