The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) released All-Sooner Athletic Conference Honors Friday, SAGU volleyball landed four players on that list. Right-side hitter Alexis Mealer headlined the list for the Lady Lions with her First Team All-SAC selection, Mealer has been a key piece to the Lady Lions lineup all year.  In conference play she had 118 kills, that included a career high 23 kills against John Brown University. Abby Wells brought in a Second Team All-SAC selection, she brought consistency for the Lady Lions throughout the year especially towards the end of the season, averaging 2.6 kills per set. As a Freshman Wells’ impact on the court grew as her confidence grew, her future will be bright for the Lady Lions. Both Tori Richard-Burns and Emma Tompkins received an honorable mention nod from the SAC to round out the awards for the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions had a successful season and will look to build their young core for the future.Coach Moore gave us some insight on his student-athletes, “I’m very pleased with the foundation these kids have laid for our future. It is great to think that we will have all four of them for the next 2-4 years.”

First Team All-SAC: Alexis Mealer
  • “Alexis had a very good year. She had to play all three different front row positions ragtime and that impacted her numbers greatly. Not once did she complain. She had an incredible season and we are so proud of her.”
Second Team All-SAC: Abby Wells
  • “Abby Wells had a very strong freshman campaign. She really came in and contributed to our team. She stepped into our line up and played upper-class.
Honorable Mention: Tori Richard-Burns
  • “Tori had a great freshman year as well. She played the setter position with maturity and poise and I’m very proud of the job she did for us this year.”
Honorable Mention: Emma Tompkins
  • “Emma came in after a surgery late in the summer and played her way back into shape. The last month of the season she was one of the top middle hitters in our conference.”
