Chickasha, Ok – January 30, 2016 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team lost to University of Science & Arts-Oklahoma , 99-79.  SAGU (5-5  in the SAC, 14-8 overall) is now sixth in the Sooner Athletic Conference , yet is still ranked no. 20 in the NAIA.  USAO is 6-4 in the SAC and 11-7 overall.

USAO held the lead for much of the game.  With 9:48 left in the first half, SAGU’s Emmanuel Adoyi made a basket to tie the game at 22.  The Drovers then went on an 18-0 run.  With 4:15 left in the half, USAO was in the lead 40-22.

Throughout the second half the Drovers continued to build upon their double digit lead.  With 5:25 left in the game, USAO had a 29 point lead which was the greatest of the night.

SAGU’s Josh Swearingin had a career-high 16 points against USAO. Elbert Lawrence scored nine points. Emmanuel Adoyi had six rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

USAO’s Richard McCalop scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds.

On Thursday, February 4, 2016 the Lions will once again take on St. Gregory’s University .  Earlier in the season SAGU beat SGU 71-64.  Game time is at 8pm.
