Waxahachie, Texas- April 3, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team lost a doubleheader to University of Science & Arts-Oklahoma (10-3, 11-3).  Currently, USAO is third in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) with a record of 20-11 overall and 9-5 in the SAC.  The Lady Lions are now 4-30 overall.

Game One (L 10-3)

In game one, SAGU scored their three runs in the bottom of the third.  With two outs, the Lady Lions started a bit of a rally.  Bailey Ballon singled to short stop.  Kelsey Coburn singled to left and then Kristin Stringer reached on a walk, loading the bases.  Next, Rieanha Cano singled to short, scoring Balloun.  Ashley Nop came through with a big double to left field, scoring both Coburn and Stringer.  Cano advanced to third and was out stretching.

Nop went three for four at the plate, with one double and two RBI’s.  Coburn went two for four with one double and one run scored.

For the Lady Drovers, two players had two homeruns each; Shelby Baker and Kara Muskrat.

SAGU’s Hannah Lee pitched all seven innings.  Lee had one strike out while allowing 13 hits.

Game Two (L 11-3)

The Lady Lions jumped to an early, although short, lead after scoring two runs in the first.  Leadoff hitter Amber Gignac singled to short and then was forced out after Bailey Balloun reached first on the fielder’s choice.  Next up, Kelsey Coburn doubled to left field, scoring Balloun.  Kristin Stringer also hit a double to shallow right-center, driving home Kelsey Coburn.

USAO came back in a big way in the top of the fourth, scoring eight runs off of seven hits.  USAO’s Shannon Boe hit a two run homer over the left field fence.

Hannah Lee pitched three and two/third innings for the Lady Lions.  She had three strike outs while giving up seven hits.  Ashley Abair pitched three and one/third innings.

Amber Gignac went two for four at the plate.  Kelsey Coburn went one for two with one RBI and one run scored.

Up next for the Lady Lions, they will travel to Bacone College on Friday, April 8, 2016.  The doubleheader begins at noon.  Bacone is currently 5-29.
