Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball Texas Wesleyan University Sooner Athletic Conference

Head coach Hank Moore believes the game was a stepping stone for his team with no seniors, “The first two sets were very hard fought and I was thrilled with our effort.  In the third set we did not compete with TWU.  They are a very good team that has some strong mature players.  Tonight we played very young.”

The first set was a battle throughout and each team matched the other point for point most of the way through.  SAGU was trailing TWU by one point at 19-18.  The Lady Rams took a time-out and came back out to outscore SAGU 6-2.

The second set was more of the same. Kali Shaw had three kills in a row to put the Lady Lions in the lead 20-18.  From that point on, the Lady Rams stopped SAGU in their tracks and outscored them 7-0 to take the set.

SAGU’s Kali Shaw had 15 kills for the night. Celi Bruce had 16 digs and Sophia Ivy had 33 assists. Paulyea Dawkins had eight kills and zero errors.

The Lady Lions will travel to the University of Science & Arts-Oklahoma on Friday, October 7, 2016.  Game time is at 7pm.  USAO is currently 1-10.
