Siloam Springs, Arkansas – February 15, 2018 – TheSouthwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s basketball team defeatedJohn Brown University, 78-67. The Lady Lions are now standing 13-12 overall and 8-9 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC).
 
The Lady Lions got off to a slow start in the first quarter. After a timeout called by Head Coach Tiffany Phillips, the Lady Lions came out on fire in the second quarter. The Lady Lions walked into halftime with a 22-point lead, outscoring the Lady Eagles 29-8 in the second quarter.
 
SAGU shot 49% from 3-point range and hit 18 3-pointers in the game. McKenzie Martin hit 8, Lexi Rich hit 5, Sydney Meador and Kiara Glenn both hit two and Ebony Colbert hit 1 for the Lady Lions.
 
Coach Phillips said, “we knew that they would make a run. They are a very good team and they aren’t just going to lay down for anyone. We were able to take care of the ball against the press and attack their zone in the second half and hit enough shots to maintain the lead.”
 
McKenzie Martinled the Lady Lions with 24 points.  Lexi Rich followed with 19 and Kiara Glenn added 15 points.  Rich also led the Lady Lions in rebounds with nine.
 
“McKenzie and Lexi both shot the ball really well and our team just fed off of that. I am so proud of this group and happy with the basketball we are playing right now. We have to be ready for Bacone. They are a very scary group.”
 
Baily Cameronled the Lady Eagles with 32 points and six rebounds.
 
The Lady Lions will compete againstBacone College, February 17, 2018 at 3pm in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
