Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball Mid-America Christian University Sooner Athletic Conference

“Our defense played solid behind Rachel Ray and Kristin Stringer’s homerun got our offense started,” says head coach Sarah Harman , “All we needed were the two runs and we are going to ride on this three game win streak and try to extend it another day.”

The top of the first looked promising for the Lady Lions. Destinee Vindiola and Kayla Milstead both got on base, but were left stranded at the end of the inning.

SAGU scored both of their runs in the top of the second.  On a 3-2 count, SAGU catcher Kristin Stringer hit a homerun to deep right-center. Rieanha Cano doubled to left field and then was able to score on a misplayed grounder hit by Baylee McBrannon .  The score was 2-0.

The Lady Lions kept MACU scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Katie Gracey homered to center field on a 1-2 count.

In the top of the sixth the Lady Lions came close to scoring again.  With two outs, Kristin Stringer hit a double to left field.  Next, Kaili Williams singled to center field.  Unfortunately, SAGU stranded two on base at the end of the inning.

Stringer led the Lady Lions at the plate.  She went two for three with one home run and one double, she had one RBI and one run scored. Kayla Milstead and Rieanha Cano each hit a double.

SAGU’s Rachel Ray had the win on the mound.  She had three strike outs and four hits.

MACU’s Courtney Anderson also had three strike outs.

They do not plan on making up game two unless the standings in the Sooner Athletic Conference required it.
