Waxahachie, Texas- November 17, 2015- The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) has announced its 2015 All-Conference Teams and two Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball players have made the list.  Senior Emmalee Smith and freshman Kali Shaw were named to the 2 nd Team All SAC list.  Shaw also was named as the SAC Freshman of the Year.

“Kali making 2nd team all-conference as a freshman is quit a big deal. Being picked as freshman of the year is an even bigger deal. She has worked so hard and the future for her is bright,” says head coach Hank Moore.

As a freshman, Shaw leads the Lions in kills, earning 318 overall and averaging three per set.  Against Mid-America Christian , Shaw had a career high of 23 kills.  In addition to kills, she also averaged three digs per set.  Shaw is from Meadows Place, Texas .

Smith is wrapping up four years at SAGU as the all-time school leader in digs. “For Miss Emmalee, she has had a great career here at SAGU,” says Moore, “She is one of the very best defensive players we have ever had. She has grown in every area of her life and I’m very proud of her.”

Smith, who is from Red Oak, Texas , leads SAGU in digs, averaging nearly 4.5 per set and earning 464 total digs on the season.  Against John Brown University , Smith had 26 digs in the game.  It was that game that she broke the career record in digs.&

Senior’s Katie Ryan and Caitlin Paschall and sophomore Summer Skillern all received honorable mentions.

A total of 39 student-athletes were selected on the three teams, 12 on the first team, 12 on the second team and 15 on the honorable mention list. Voting was done by the league’s nine volleyball coaches.
