Waxahachie, Texas – October 29, 2015 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team toppled Bacone College (1-9 overall and 0-8 in the SAC), 7-0. The Lady Lions improved to 8-8 for the season and 2-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). SAGU’s Nadine Jaimes scored her 13 th goal of the season.
SAGU’s senior Joy Reyes scored the first goal in the seventh minute of play. In the 17 th minute, SAGU went up 2-0 when Reyes assisted Nadine Jaimes in her first goal of the contest.
With 37:25 left in the second half, SAGU scores again after Jaimes passes a ball across the middle, near the six yard line, to Kenly Nichols , who put the ball in the back of the net.
Four minutes later, Jaimes gained another assist as she passed the ball to Laura Barba who was able to go one on one with the goalie and shoot the ball around her, making the score 4-0.
In the 64 th minute of play, Nichols was able to return the favor to Jaimes as she beat out the defense and then passed the ball over to Jaimes who was able to easily shoot it around the goalie.
Laura Barba was able to score the sixth goal off of a one on one with the goalkeeper. With eight minutes left in the game, Reyes scores the final goal of the game, making the final score 7-0.
SAGU goalkeeper Kaitlin Espinoza had four saves while allowing zero goals. Reyes, Jaimes and Barba each had two goals. Nichols scored one goal.
BC goalkeeper Ashley Smith had 11 saves while allowing seven goals.
On Saturday, October 31 st , 2015, SAGU will host John Brown University (10-6 overall and 6-1 in the SAC). Currently, the games are scheduled for 1pm and 3pm. Stay tuned to SAGU Sports Network on facebook and twitter to stay-up-to-date with game changes due to the weather.
