Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team Texas A&M- Texarkana

17 minutes into the game, Joy Reyes scored a shot from the right side of the box to the back post, just out of the reach of the goalie.  The Lady Lions go up 1-0.

With less than five minutes left in the half, Laura Barba passes to Nadine Jaimes who dribbles through and away from defenders, and finds the back of the net.  SAGU leads 2-0 at half.

In the 62 nd minute of the game, Laura Barba makes a goal off of an assist by Kenly Nichols.

Texas A&M-Texarkana was able to score in the 71 st and 87 th minutes of the game. With about six minutes left in play, goalkeeper Alaina Jones came out of the box and took a ball from a forward who had a one on one with her.  The gutsy play by Jones helped the Lady Lions come out on top when the final whistle blew.

Jaimes now has seven goals for the season and Barba has six.  Barba is the current Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Offensive Player of the Week.

SAGU goalkeeper’s Kathleen Espinoza and Jones each had four saves, Jones allowed two goals.

The Lady Lions will have a chance to give their legs a rest.  There next game is Friday, September 18 th against St. Thomas .  Game-time is at 3pm.
