The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Women’s Soccer Team took a missions trip to Guatemala following the completion of the spring semester. The team worked with RU4 Children ( ru4children.org ) to impact the lives of disadvantaged children. Twelve members of the women’s soccer team and Coach Paul Hason made the trip. The trip included both incoming and current members of the women’s soccer team.

Hason said the trip was impacting for all involved and serves as an opportunity for women’s soccer to fulfill the DNA of SAGU, taking the whole gospel to the whole world. Women’s soccer has been to Egypt and Japan the two previous years as part of Coach Hason’s dream of taking the team on a mission’s trip each year. The team worked in an orphanage, visited with individuals in a hospital, and had an opportunity to provide 25 water filtration systems for a remote village in Guatemala.

Team member Alejandra Islas summed up the trip by stating, “I am so glad that all of the girls were able to experience this amazing event that helped us grow in our faith and helped us understand what the power of prayer really has on individuals.”
