Waxahachie, Texas- August 29, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team got their first win of the season, beating Jarvis Christian College 3-0.  The Lady Lions are now 1-1 for the season.

“I was very pleased with the outcome of this game. It was fun to watch the girls be creative in the attack,” says head coach Mandy Fortner.

The first goal of the game came in the 38 th minute when SAGU freshman Nadine Jaimes scored off of a deflection, putting SAGU up 1-0.

SAGU added another point to the scoreboard when Jaimes scored the second goal off of an assist from Samantha Gonzales in the 73 rd minute.

With ten minutes left to play, SAGU freshman Kenzie McNutt scored from just inside the box.  The final score was 3-0.

Coach Fortner was proud of her team’s performance, “It was a team effort and it was a well-deserved win. I’m proud of the effort that was put on the field today.”

The Lady Lions have one week of rest before they host Texas College on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 3:00pm.
