Waxahachie, TX – The Sooner Athletic Conference season opened for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer on Tuesday night. Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) was the conference opponent for opening night in the SAC. The 7:00 pm soccer match found SAGU (2-6-0, 0-1-0) beaten by the Rams 8-1.

Lady Lion Review

  • TWU had 34 shots to SAGU’s 5 shots for the game including 15 shots on goal for TWU and 1 shot on goal for SAGU.
  • SAGU’s Sandra Burton (JR/Bogota, Columbia) put the Lady Lions on the scoreboard with a goal in the 63 rd minute of the match. For Burton, this was her second goal of the season.
  • Sarah Palmer (SR/Grapevine, TX) had 7 saves on the day for the Lady Lions.
  • Five different Lady Lions had shots during the match.
  • SAGU has now dropped six games in a row.

The Next Step

  • SAGU now has a week off from competition. The Lady Lions will next play October 5 th in Bethany, OK against Southwestern Christian University at 1:00 pm.
