Waxahachie, Texas – November 10th, 2017 — The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s basketball team defeated Texas College (TC) 80-66 in the first game of the SAGU Classic. The Lady Lions are now 2-1 on the season.
Three Lady Lions finished in double digits. Mckenzie Martin led in scoring with 20 points. Lexi Rich followed with 18 points. 6’0 junior, Dotty Diggles, had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
The Lady Lions struggled defensively, but made up for it on offense. As a team, they were able to cut down their turnovers to half compared to their last game against Our Lady of the Lake.
Head Coach Tiffany Phillips was pleased with the win on Friday evening. “I thought we came out a little flat in the first half. We missed some of our rotations defensively and we had good looks we just weren’t hitting them. We made some adjustments at hafltime and really responded, scoring 48 points in the second half. I am always grateful for a win and an opportunity to get better.”
The Lady Lions will compete against the University of St. Thomas, November 11 th at 11am.
