Moore, OK – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) closed out their regular season Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) schedule on Saturday against Mid-American Christian University (MACU). The Lions (22-8, 16-5) were able to defeat MACU (14-11, 12-8) in straight sets (27-25, 25-21, 25-17).

- Alexis Mealer ( SO/Arlington, TX ) led SAGU in kills with 10.
- Ava Meyers ( SO/Arlington, TX ) notched 9 kills of her own with 3 aces and 1 block.
- Emma Tomkins ( FR/ Waller,TX ) and Jancee Akers ( SO/Rosenberg, TX ) played stout defense with 8 blocks each.
How it Happened
- The Lions overcame 18 kills by MACU in the first set. It was back and forth, but SAGU managed to squeak out a 27-25 win.
- SAGU posted a .198 hitting percentage compared to just .107 by MACU.
- The Lions had 36 assists for the game 31 of which came from Sophia Ivy ( SR/Round Rock, TX).
- SAGU was dialed in and had 13 blocks and seemed to have an answer for the MACU attack.
What’s Next
SAGU locked down the #4 seed in the SAC Tournament which means they will host a rematch against #5 seed MACU at the Sheaffer Center at 7pm Tuesday November 12 th .
