2019 SAGU Volleyball Team

Waxahachie, TX – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) will battle Mid-American Christian University (MACU) in the 1 st round of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Tournament Tuesday November 13, 2019. These two teams met twice during the regular season with SAGU taking both matches 3-0.

What to Watch For

  • SAGU will have all eyes on Hannah Focker of MACU. She has averaged 13 kills this season against the Lions. She has also posted a 30-kill game against Southwestern Christian (OK) earlier in the season.
  • The trio of Alexis Mealer, Ava Meyers, and Emma Tomkins have given MACU fits in this season. Those three Lions have averaged 29 kills in their two regular season meetings.
  • Hitting percentage will be vital. In the first meeting between these teams, SAGU showed balance hitting .308 as a team compared to just .178 by MACU. The second meeting was closer as SAGU hit .189 compared to .109 from MACU. Efficiency could be a big key in determining who moves on in the SAC Tournament.
  • SAGU is saving its best for last. The margin of victory in the first sets between these two teams is 2.5. In the third set the average has bumped up to 7. It appears the Lions are settling in as the game goes on and the coaches are making the proper adjustments to close out the matches.

What It Means

The winner looks to take the first step toward a SAC Tournament championship. The tournament will conclude in Oklahoma City, OK at Oklahoma City University, November 15-16.
