The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU ) volleyball team swept St. Gregory’s University (SGU) in three sets, (25-21, 25-17, and 25-13). The Lady Lions advance to the semifinals and will continue play in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament on Friday in Oklahoma City.
The Lady Lions came out aggressive in the first set. Jessica Sodich, who led the Lady Lions in kills, hammered the first two kills of the set. In the second set, the Lady Lions and the Cavaliers had a back and forth battle in the second set with the Lady Lions edging out St. Gregory’s. The third set, was the quickest and the most intense for SAGU. There were several extensive rallies in this set, which made for an exciting game for SAGU fans to be involved.
Jessica Sodich had eight kills, 17 digs and two blocks. Paulyae Dawkins had eight kills and four blocks. Kali Shaw added seven kills, 11 digs, and one block. Mollie McBride also had seven kills and four blocks. Sophia Ivy had 33 assists and Celi Bruce led the Lady Lions in digs with 23.
The Lady Lions will compete against Texas Wesleyan University at 4:30 pm Friday, November 10, 2017. The semifinal roudn will be hosted at Oklahoma City University.
