Waxahachie, Texas- September 20, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) played two matches over the weekend conquering Southwestern Christian University (SCU) and University of Southwest (USW). The Lady Lions are now 3-0 in conference play and 11-3 overall.
SAGU took both of these teams by the belt loop and beat them each in three straight sets.
Despite playing four matches in three days, the Lady Lions walked away with their heads held high and a 4-0 record.
SAGU played their first game against SCU (19-25,24-26,19-25). SAGU stayed strong even in the second set when they were taken to extra points. This was a Sooner Athletic Conference match and a big win in order to keep SAGU undefeated in conference play.
With the win against SCU, head coach Hank Moore earned his 300 th career victory.
Senior Emmalee Smith led SAGU with 20 digs for the contest. Senior Caitlin Paschall followed close behind with 19. Freshman Kali Shaw had 13 kills for the Lady Lions.
The Lady Lions went onto play USW and took them in three sets also (18-25,23-25,14-25).
“4-0 this week was a great accomplishment for our team. I’m really proud of all our team and their hard work,” says head coach Hank Moore.
This was a huge week for the Lady Lions and also a very big week for Carlie Tuiasosopo . Tuiasosopo had four starts this week and played three different positions, “She has been a great addition to the program. Her versatility allowed her to play at those spots without any drop off,” says Moore.
In the second game, Paschall had 29 assists. Senior Katie Ryan had 13 digs and Smith had 12. Shaw had 11 kills for the game.
The lady Lions are on an eight game win streak. SAGU will play Friday, September 25, 2015 against Bacone College (0-11).
