Waxahachie, Texas – October 15, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend.  On Friday, the Lady Lions were swept by no. 13 ranked Oklahoma City University (25-14, 25-17, 25-15) and on Saturday they topped St. Gregory’s (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) in three sets.

Oklahoma City University

OCU is currently the top team in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC).  They are a perfect 13-0 in SAC play and 22-3 overall.  The Lady Stars were dominant in their performance against SAGU.  They had 44 kills compared to SAGU’s 25.

Kali Shaw led SAGU with 10 kills and Paulyae Dawkins added six kills. Celi Bruce had nine digs and Sophia Ivy had 18 assists.

St. Gregory’s University

The Lady Cavaliers are currently in third place in the SAC with a 9-3 conference record.  The Lady Lions were able to snap an 11-game winning streak.

Each set proved to be very competitive between the two teams.  In the third set, SAGU was down 2-7.  The Lady Lions found a spark and were able to go on a great run and eventually tie the score 14-14.  SAGU’s Bojana Vukadinovic served three straight aces.  She also had her first zero serving errors of the season.  Vukadinovic is leading the team in aces with 58.

Kali Shaw had a double/double, leading the Lions in kills with 12.  She is .229.  Shaw added 10 digs. Paulyae Dawkins had nine kills and hit .467.  She also had three blocks. Madeline Hartline had four assist blocks. Summer Skillern had eight kills and four assist blocks. Sophia Ivy had 32 assists and three assist blocks. Celi Bruce led in digs with 15.

On Thursday, October 21, 2016, SAGU will host Bacone College at 7pm.  BC is currently 2-16 overall and 1-10 in the SAC.
