Austin, Texas – September 9, 2017 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team played two games over a two-day span in the Austin/San Antonio area.  The Lions went 1-1, beating Huston-Tillotson University and falling to Our Lady of the Lake University.  SAGU is now 10-3 headed into next weeks’ conference matches. 
 
The Lady Lions defeated HTU in three straight sets (30-28, 25-18, and 25-20). Kali Shaw had an outstanding match.  Paulyae Dawkins and Maddie Hartline dominated at the net blocking. 
 
Despite the win to HTU the night before, SAGU fell to OLLU in four sets (17-25, 25-15, 17-25, and 13-25).  Jessica Sodich had another double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs. Dawkins had nine assist blocks and Sophia Ivy had five assist blocks as well.  We got out blocked 16.5 to 10.  SAGU’s team hitting percentage was .056.  “You won’t beat anyone like that,” Head Coach Hank Moore explains, “it was a tough day for us and we have a lot of work to do.”
 
The standout player for OLLU was Raven Swain, who finished with 15 kills, with just three errors for a hitting percentage of .308. She also added 10 digs and two assist blocks.
 
The Lady Lions will take on Oklahoma Panhandle State Friday, September 15, 2017 at 7pm on their home court.
