The Lady Lions concluded their conference season with a win and it was one of the most successful seasons they’ve seen in a while. SAGU finished 25-5 overall and 16-1 in the Sooner Athletic conference (SAC). The Lady Lions finished this season ranked number 16 in Division I digs per game (18) and number 32 in Division I kills per game (13).

“Today was a very special day for SAGU volleyball.  We honored three special seniors.  All three have impacted my life in so many ways.  Their hard work and dedication has made our volleyball program what it is today. Paulyae Dawkins , Summer Skillern , and Jessica Sodich have stayed the course and worked their tails off. I’m so proud of them. We are Co-Conference champs! What a great accomplishment for our program,” Head Coach Hank Moore said excitedly.

The Lady Lions got off to a 9-1 run against the Lady Drover’s and never looked back. Senior Summer Skillern led the Lady Lions with 15 kills and two blocks. Paulyae Dawkins followed with 13 kills and three blocks. Jessica Sodich and Kali Shaw both added eight kills.  Sophia Ivy had 39 assists and Celi Bruce had 19 digs.

Outside hitter Dana Stepankova led the Lady Drover’s with four kills.

The Lady Lions will shift their focus to competing in the SAC tournament. SAGU will host St. Gregory’s on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7pm. SAGU is only three wins away from the NAIA National Tournament.
