Abilene, Texas – November 17th, 2017 -- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team defeated Southwestern Christian University (SCU) in five sets (25-20, 19-25, 25-9, 23-25, and 15-13). The Lady Lions are now 27-6 overall and will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimee, Florida.
Kali Shaw led the Lady Lions with 16 kills and 14 digs.  Jessica Sodich followed with 15 kills and 20 digs. Paulyae Dawkins added 11 kills and six assist blocks.  Sophia Ivy had 53 assists.  Celi Bruce had 19 digs and Nikka Almaguer had 12 digs and five aces. Summer Skillern had the best statistical night of all the Lady Lions in kills with five on only 12 attempts and no errors.
"The Lady Lions came out a little slow tonight and most of our girls had an extremely low hitting percentage with multiple errors, which is uncharacteristic for us. Thankfully, we were able to come out on top and are 27-6 on the season and will continue to play another day," explains SAGU Head Coach Hank Moore.
The Lady Lions will compete against McMurry University on Saturday, November 18th in the NCCAA Championship game.
