Waxahachie, Texas--March 2, 2018--The Southwestern Assemblies of God University Men And Women’s Cross country/Track (XC/TF) team will be traveling with Clinton, Mississippi to compete in the Mississippi College Invitational. This meet will kick off the 2018 Track season for SAGU XC/TF.

The goal for the Lions and Lady Lions is to run every race as its their last. “With only 5 or 6 possible meets in the season, each athlete only has so many opportunities to qualify to NCCAA or NAIA Nationals,” says Assistant Coach Jose Campos. “ “Our motto this year is #LetsEat and that is what we are aiming to do.”

With that in mind, the team will run to qualify athletes in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000 meter steeplechase, and 5000 meter races this weekend in Clinton, Mississippi.

"Our objective is to start the season off fast!  We have had a long drought without a competition and am excited to open up at Mississippi College! This meet has 18 teams with a mixture of NCAA DI, DII, DIII and NAIA schools!  It is going to be fast!!," says Head Coach Jason Covarrubias.
