Waxahachie, Texas – August 27, 2017- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team picked up their first win of the season against Southwestern College (SC).  The Lions outscored SC 4-0.

The Lions had a very balanced attack, scoring two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half.  Nearly 18 minutes into the game, SAGU’s Juan Herrera-Perla passed to Chidara Mazvita for the score.  Less than three minutes later, Diego Villanueva scored again for the Lions.

With 71 minutes on the clock, Mazvita strikes again to make the score 3-0 in SAGU’s favor.  The final goal was scored by Miguel Torres with seven minutes left in the game.

SAGU’s goalkeeper Edgar Chavez was perfect in the net.  He spent over 78 minutes in the net and had five saves.  SC’s Matt Temple had eight saves and four goals allowed.

The Lions are scheduled to play LeTourneau University on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.  The game is in Longview, Texas and begins at 7:00pm.
