Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball Southwestern Christian University Sooner Athletic Conference

Game One (W 3-2)

In game one, both teams scored one run in the first inning.  With two outs, SAGU’s Kayla Milstead reached base after an SCU wild throw.  Thanks to another error, Cheyenne Fults reached base on a dropped popup, scoring Milstead.

SAGU picked up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Bailey Balloun reached base on a walk. Ashlyn Stanfill hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Balloun to second.  Next, Kaili Williams popped out to short, scoring Balloun.  Finally, Destinee Vindiola singled to third base, scoring Baylee McBrannon .

In the bottom of the sixth, SAGU’s defense was able to get out of a jam.  SCU’s Michaela Arington scored after a SAGU wild throw.  With two runners on base, SAGU was able to get the final out and the 3-2 win.

SAGU’s Rachel Ray pitched all seven innings.  She had two strike outs. Destinee Vindiola went two for three with one RBI and one double.

Game Two (W 10-5)

SAGU’s momentum continued into the second game.  The Lady Lions were able to score 10 runs in six innings. SAGU scored three runs in the first inning alone. Cheyenne Fults hit a triple to right field, scoring Destinee Vindiola and Kayla Milstead .  Next, Brittany Livingston singled, scoring Fults.

In the bottom of the second, SAGU’s one run came from Ashley Nop stealing home.  In the third, SAGU scored two runs off of three hits and one SCU error.

At SAGU’s last at bat, Rieanha Cano , Baylee McBrannon , Kaitlyn Canales and Kristin Stringer all scored.

Hannah Lee picked up the win on the mound for SAGU.  Lee pitched four innings and Adrianna Barnes came in relief for three innings.  Each pitcher had one strike out.

SAGU’s Cheyenne Fults was three for four at the plate.  She had three RBI’s, three runs scored and one triple. Baylee McBrannon also went three for four and scored one run.

On Thursday, April 13, 2017, SAGU will play at Mid-America Christian University .  Game one begins at 2pm.
