Waxahachie, Texas – December 7, 2015 – On November 20, 2015, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) students, staff and faculty participated in the national Make A Difference Day. The event was organized by SAGU’s Residential Life Department.

Over 150 students, staff and faculty met at the Sheaffer Center to carpool to multiple areas in Waxahachie to volunteer around the community. Volunteers participated in a trash pick-up at Lions Park, Turner Park, and along Highway 287; pressure wash water tanks; sorted clothing at Big Thrift store and worked with First Look Waxahachie; and painted park benches, fire hydrants, and trash barrels.

Senior student and residential assistant Tiree Dean said, “Make a Difference Day is an amazing experience that allows us to reach our local community in a tangible way. I am so glad that I was able to be apart of it!”

The day concluded in SAGU’s Student Center for a time of fellowship and Chick-fil-A sandwiches donated by the Residential Life Department.

Assistant Dean of Students Dave Watts said, “Make a Difference Day 2015 was one of the most successful ones that I’ve been a part of in five years here on staff.”
