The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team swept the Bacone Warriors and dropped both games against Mid-America Christian . The series against Bacone the Lions won game one 17-0 then the second game 9-3; MACU swept SAGU 5-6 and 0-6.

The Lions came out in game one almost all of their starting lineup having a hit; Rhian Journey four for four with four RBIs and three runs, Janely Cruz two for two with one RBI and one run, Cheyenne Fults one for three with five RBIs and one run, Casey Waterman two for three with two RBIs and one run, Rosie Guadarrama three for four with two RBIs and two runs, Maddie Valentino one for two with three runs, Airiana Magdaleno went two for three with one run, and Destinee Vindiola went one for three with one RBI and two runs. Fults, Guadarrama, and Waterman each had home runs then Guadarrama and Journey had doubles. Casey Waterman pitched a complete game after only allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out nine batters. Game two the Lions had a huge inning in the 5th inning that helped them sweep the Lady Warriors after scoring five runs. Journey had a triple and Waterman had a double to lead them off. Natalie Voss recorded the win after pitching seven innings allowing three runs off of 11 hits while striking out six batters.

The Lady Lions were winning 5-2 at the top of the 5th inning then the Evangels scored four runs to end the game 5-6. Watson had two RBI’s after going two for four then Vindiola also had two RBI’s after going one for three. Journey and Fults both had two hits for a team total of 11 hits to MACU’s 10. Waterman pitched the full game allowing six runs and three of them being earned with three being unearned from two errors. MACU held SAGU scoreless in the second game; Jessica Holt went three for four for them with two RBIs and two runs. Voss pitched six innings with nine hits, six runs, five earned runs, two walks, and two strikeouts.

The Lions travel to Oklahoma City University for a four-game series with two games on 4/10 and the last two games on Friday, 4/12. The Stars are three games ahead of SAGU for second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
