Waxahachie, TX – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Baseball team was in action Tuesday afternoon as they met Dallas Christian College (DCC). The Lions (13-3,0-0) continued their hot streak by beating the Crusaders (2-8, 0-0) by a score of 6-1.

Kyle Coolidge had 2 hits and 1 RBI in the win over DCC

Top Performers

  • Ben Bills ( JR/York, PA ), Kyle Coolidge ( SR/Newberry Park, CA ), and Sonny Boyd ( SO/Mansfield, TX ) all tied for the most hits in the game with 2. They combined for 6 of the 10 total SAGU hits.
  • Bills also led the Lions in runs scored with 2.
  • The SAGU offense was balanced as Hunter Watson ( SO/Whitney, TX ), Tanner Lindle ( SR/Coppell, TX ), Eric Crum ( FR/Kyle, TX ), Cole Yarbrough ( SO/Palmer, TX ) and Coolidge all had 1 RBI.
  • Jared Anderson ( JR/Houston, TX ) got the win for SAGU as he allowed no hits, no runs while striking out two batters.
  • SAGU hit .333 as a team

Lions Review

  • SAGU got on the board first in the bottom of the 2 nd inning jumping out to a 1-0 lead.
  • Each team went scoreless for the next three innings. which kept the game hanging in the balance.
  • The Lions posted 4 runs in the 6 th and 7 th innings thanks to a couple of extra-base hits by Bills and Coolidge.
  • SAGU led 5-0 moving into the top of the 8 th inning. DCC finally pushed a run across to cut the deficit to 5-1.
  • The Lions added another run of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-1 lead and would win by that same score.

What’s Next

SAGU will host Huston-Tillotson University on Friday. Their doubleheader will begin at 12:00 pm.
