The Lady Lions split on their road trip to Texas A&M Texarkana after winning game one 6-2 and dropping the second one 0-4. The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team is now slated at 7-9 on the season and 0-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after the first month of play.

Casey Waterman and Cheyenne Fults came up big to start this series; Waterman went two for four with a two-run home run in the top 7th inning that totaled for three RBI’s. On the mound, she won her fifth game of the season which is 14th in the nation for total wins after only allowing two earned runs off of 10 hits in the seven innings she pitched. Fults went three for four during game one for one RBI, one run, and one assist. She ranks nationally at 28th for total assists with 32. Janely Cruz, Kayla Milstead, and Morgan Valentino both had hits for a team total of eight on their seventh win of the season.

Cassie Vasquez only allowed the Lady Lions to get two hits off of her while allowing zero runs. Cruz had SAGU’s two hits to end the series for her third double hit game of the season. Natalie Voss pitched the first 2.1 innings giving up six hits and four earned runs then Waterman finished the last 3.2 innings giving up two hits and zero earned runs.

The Lady Lions will continue conference play as they will travel to Bethany, OK , to face Southwestern Christian on Friday, for a 2 pm and 4 pm series. Saturday they play Oklahoma City University at 12 pm and 2 pm to complete their four-game weekend road trip.
