Oklahoma City, Oklahoma- April 24, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team played the no. one team in the nation in the NAIA and lost both games. Oklahoma City University swept SAGU 12-1 and 16-0. OCU currently has a record of 52-1.

The Lady Stars proved they are worthy of the no. one NAIA ranking, as well as being the top team in the Sooner Athletic Conference .  In the first game alone they had 13 hits, including two home runs.

SAGU’s bright spot of the doubleheader came after Kelsey Coburn hit a home run.  Coburn homered to left field on a 2-0 count.  This was Coburn’s fourth home run of the year.

For the Lady Lions, Hannah Lee pitched all four innings in game one.  She had one strike out while giving up 13 hits.

OCU’s Leslie Miller s tarted on the mound and pitched the entire game for the win.  She had eight strike-outs.

In game two, SAGU struggled to get any runs on the board despite getting four hits.  In the top of the second, Ashley Nop doubled to left center field.  Next, Ashlyn Stanfill was walked to put somebody on second and first.  Unfortunately, Rieanha Cano flied out to end the inning, leaving two on base and no runs scored by SAGU.

Ashley Abair pitched two and two/thirds inning for the Lions.  Abair gave up 14 hits.  Hannah Lee came in relief and pitched one and one/third innings.

Amber Gignac went two for two with one double. Ashley Nop went one for two with one double.

The Lady Lions will take a week off before hosting Bacone College on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2pm.  This is a make-up game and will be Senior Day for SAGU’s four seniors.
