Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball Mid-America Christian University Sooner Athletic Conference

Game One (L 8-4)

Despite the game going into extra innings, the Lady Lions lost 8-4 in game one.  SAGU jumped out to the early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Destinee Vindiola hit a double to deep center to help the scoring attack in the bottom of the first.  SAGU had five hits and stranded two on base.

Until the sixth inning, SAGU held the 3-0 lead.  It was the top of the sixth and MACU was able to score three runs off of two hits and one SAGU error.  The three runs, and a scoreless seventh inning, sent the game into the eighth.

In the top of the eighth, SAGU had two costly errors that MACU was able to capitalize off of.  The Lady Evangels scored five runs off of three hits.

SAGU was able to score one more run after Kristen Stringer flied out to deep center field, scoring Cheyenne Fults .

Rachel Ray pitched all eight innings and had ten strike-outs. Cheyenne Fults went two for three at the plate, scoring two runs and hitting one double.

Game Two (W 3-2)

In the bottom of the fourth inning, SAGU tied the game up at one-all. Destinee Vindiola singled to shallow right field. Kristin Stringer reached base on MACU’s wild throw, ultimately scoring Vindiola in the process.

Both teams were able to score in the fifth inning, once again tying the game. SAGU’s run came after Adrianna Barnes scored on a single to right-center by Baylee McBrannon .  SAGU took the 2-1 lead.

The Lady Lions winning run came in the bottom of the seventh.  With bases loaded, Destinee Vindiola was hit by a pitch, bringing Cheyenne Fults home with the winning run.

SAGU’s Hannah Lee pitched seven innings, allowing six hits. Baylee McBrannon went three for four at the plate with one RBI.  Destinee Vindiola went one for three, with one RBI and scoring one run.

SAGU was scheduled to play Rogers State on Monday, March 13, 2017.  The game has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Up next, SAGU will host a SAC game with Oklahoma City University on Thursday, March 16, 2017.  The doubleheader will begin at 2pm.  OCU is currently ranked no. 1 in the NAIA with a perfect 26-0 record.
