The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team split in their Sooner Athletic Conference series against Mid-America Christian University . This is only their second loss in conference play which lands them in 2nd place with a 10-2 SAC record. Game one resulted in a 5-4 victory than a 0-8 loss to end the weekend.

Casey Waterman started the bats in the second inning when she doubled to deep left, Talliyah Grant pinch ran for Waterman and advanced to third from a wild-pitch during Rosie Guadarrama’s at-bat. Guadarrama would later triple to bring Grant home, 1-0 Lady Lions. Kayla Milstead would extend the lead to 2-0 when she singled to shallow left-center. The score would remain 2-0 until the 5th inning when SAGU scored three runs from two hits and two errors. Janely Cruz singled to left that would score Destinee Vindiola from reaching on-base when she doubled to right. MACU’s outfield bobbled a route fly-ball that Guadarrama hit that would score Rian Journey and Cruz. MACU would score four runs in the top of the 6th inning from three singles and one error; final score SAGU 5-4. Waterman got another win after pitching a complete game with six strikeouts, five hits, four runs, and one earned run.

The Lady Lions were held to three hits in game two behind their loss; Waterman, Milstead, and Morgan Valentino each recorded singles. MACU scored five runs in the top of the 7th to push their lead to 0-8 then the Lady Lions grounded out for a double-play to end their weekend.

They will continue SAC play with three two-game series against University of Science and Arts, Bacone College, and Langston University . All six games will be at home with USAO being on Tuesday at 12 pm and 2 pm, Bacone on Friday at 2 pm and 4 pm, and Langston Saturday for 12 pm and 2 pm game-times. The current top three spots of the SAC conference have USAO sitting in 1st at 12-0, SAGU 10-2, and Oklahoma City University at 8-2.
