Waxahachie, Texas- June 22, 2016- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball player Kelsey Coburn has received a national honor from the National Christian Colleges Athletics Association (NCCAA).  Coburn has been named as a NCCAA 2 nd Team All-American.

“This is a great recognition for Kelsey and for our program,” explains SAGU softball head coach Sarah Harman , “Kelsey led us offensively her entire career at SAGU and I’m really proud of her for receiving this award.”

Coburn, a third baseman from Lewisville, Texas, had a batting average of 0.393 and a slugging percentage of 0.579.  This season Coburn hit four homeruns and 15 doubles.  She scored 20 runs and had 31 RBI’s.  In the field, she had 64 putouts and 119 assists.

Coburn is the first SAGU softball player to play all four years and graduate from the program.

In addition to Coburn’s national recognition, she was also named to the Sooner Athletic Conference 1 st Team All-Conference.  Coburn was the first SAGU softball player to receive that honor.
