The defeating national champion University of Science & Arts (USAO) softball team came to Waxahachie and had trouble against the Lady Lions. The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) top three Sooner Athletic Conference team out hit the Lady Drovers six to four but lost the game 0-1. Shortly after, game two started and they lost 2-8 after committing three errors.

Leading up to the bottom of the 4th inning there was one hit between both teams then Rosie Guadarrama doubled to left and Kayla Milstead singled to center that advanced Guadarrama to third. 0-0 score with runs on second and third with two outs, the next batter struck out to end the inning. The next inning the Lady Drovers scored the only run of the game when Tarah Madron hit a sac-fly to center that scored Karmyn Pearn who reached on base from hitting a double to deep center. Janely Cruz went two for four, Rhian Journey accounted for a hit, and Destinee Vindiola had the other hit for SAGU. Casey Waterman pitched a complete game with only allowing four hits against the 23 batters she faced. USAO’s freshman pitcher, Emily Cerny struck out 17 batters she faced with allowing zero runs and six hits.

The Lady Lions scored their two runs of the weekend in the 3rd inning; Journey tripled to deep right-center that brought Morgan Valentino in, Valentino reached on-base from a walk. Cruz was the next batter for SAGU as she got a ball past the shortstop that would score Journey for their second run. The Lady Drovers started the game out in the first inning with a three-run home run from Destinie Lookout then scored two in the 3rd and 4th innings. Cheyenne Fults, Brycelen Richards , and Milstead each had singles in game two while Brittany Livingston pinch-hit going one for one with the only double. Natalie Voss pitched a complete game giving up 12 hits, eight runs, six earned runs, walking three batters, and striking out three of her 33 batters faced.

The Lady Lions will face Bacone College on Friday for a 2 pm and 4 pm game times as they sit in 3rd of the SAC behind USAO and OCU.
