Waxahachie, Texas – May 18, 2017- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team has been done with their season for less than two weeks now, but head coach Sarah Harman isn’t taking a break yet, she has been hitting the road and has signed four new recruits for the 2018 season. Allie Horton , Morgan Valentino , Cheyanne Phillips and Kylee Fowler have committed to being Lady Lions.
Harman is excited with the way her new additions add to her roster, “These four recruits compliment the other recruits that we have previously signed this year and they add to our core of returners. My goal this year was to bring more arms to help in the circle and to provide next year’s team with depth in some infield positions, primarily in the middle infield. This group helps round that out.”
Allie Horton is a pitcher and third baseman from Cedar Hill, Texas . She was named as the 2017
defensive MVP and received the Arturo Gatti Tough as Nails MVP Award. She was also picked as an All District Honorable Mention.
Morgan Valentino is a middle infielder from Red Oak, Texas . Valentino batted .332 for the season and .411 in district play. She was picked as the team MVP in 2016, First Team All-District in 2015 and 2016, and chosen for the Hawk Award in 2015. Valentino is also a member of the National Honor Society.
