Waxahachie, Texas – November 15, 2016 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team topped Paul Quinn College on Monday night.  The Lions beat PQC 101-59.  SAGU is now 6-1 for the season.

The Lions took the early lead and dominated for the entire game.  Five minutes into the game SAGU was leading 14-3.  “It was nice to get off to a good start. That set the tone and took the wind out of their sails. We were especially good early on defense,” explains head coach Donnie Bostwick .

At halftime, SAGU’s lead had grown to 27 points.  They went into the locker room leading 47-20.

In the second half their lead just grew.  SAGU sunk 14 three pointers, 10 of those were made in the second half.

Once again, Keyunta Watkins led the Lions with 17 points.  He also had two steals and five rebounds. Sam Campbell and Darian Davis both scored 15 points. Kentton Williams added 13 points. Isaak Rowe added 10 points and eight rebounds.

“I continue to see progress and our goal is to be ready for upcoming big games and SAC play,” says Bostwick.

The Lions will host the fifth ranked team in the nation on Saturday when Louisiana State University-Alexandria comes to town.  Game time is at 6pm.  LSUA is currently 4-0 for the season.
