Waxahachie, Texas – August 23, 2017 – The first edition of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) volleyball Players of the Week has been announced and Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s (SAGU) Sophia Ivy received the honor.  Ivy was named SAC Setter-of-the-Week .

Ivy is a sophomore setter from Round Rock, Texas .  Over a 4-0 weekend, Ivy averaged 9.67 assists per game.  She had 30 or more assists in three matches including 48 in the final match of the week against St. Thomas.

During the game with St. Thomas, it wasn’t only Ivy’s assists that helped the team says Coach Hank Moore , “In our last match against St. Thomas, when the score was 12-12, Sophia had a huge solo block for a point.  I can tell you, she is playing big as a sophomore.”

This is the second time that Ivy has received the SAC Setter-of-the-Week award.  As a freshman she received the award in week 5.

In addition to Ivy, Wayland Baptist’s Megan Sharratt earned Attacker-of-the-Week and Kayley Davis of St. Gregory’s received Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

The Lady Lions have a week break before they are back in action at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Tournament .  On Friday, August 25, SAGU will play Friends University at 9 a.m.
