Waxahachie, Texas – May 6, 2016 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) hosted the 19th Annual Golf Classic presented by John Houston Custom Homes raising a record-setting $20,000 for SAGU Athletics.
Proceeds from the SAGU Golf Classic benefits operational and project funds for SAGU Athletics. SAGU Athletic Director Jesse Godding explained, “This event has been instrumental in allowing the athletic department make facility improvements that create a better student-athlete experience and give an opportunity for coaches to showcase SAGU facilities to potential student-athletes.”
SAGU Athletics includes men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, cheerleading, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, football, cross country, track & field, and volleyball.
The tournament was scored in two flights with teams placing first, second and third. Winners received Golfsmith gift cards up to $200 in value, per player. There were also several drawings for door prizes that included a 55” 4K LED TV, Apple Watches, Callaway and Ping Clubs, gift certificates, and more.
SAGU’s Director of Alumni Relations Devin Ferguson said, “ This record-setting year would not have been possible without the generous support of all of our corporate sponsors.
