SAGU presents Civil War seminar Waxahachie, Texas — January 8, 2013 — Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) will present “A House Divided: Life and Thought in the American Civil War Era,” January 22 – 24, 2013, in SAGU’s Barnes Student Center during the chapel hour. The seminar is open to the public.

  • “Johnny Reb and Billy Yank: A Soldier’s Life in the American Civil War,” presented by David Onyon

Wednesday, January 23 — 10:15 a.m.

  • “Through the Lens of Civil War Literature: Glimpses of the House Divided,” presented by Diane Lewis
  • “Union and Confederate Music in the Civil War,” presented by Tyrone Block

Thursday, January 24 — 9:30 a.m.

  • “Slavery and the Pulpit: The Use of the Bible in Sermons that Justified and Condemned Slavery During the American Civil War,” presented by Jeff Magruder
  • “The Civil War in Ellis County,” presented by Loyd Uglow
