Assemblies of God College Prayer Meeting Waxahachie, TX – February 24, 2011 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) joined 18 other Assemblies of God colleges in prayer on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. The Alliance for Assemblies of God (AG) Higher Education initiated the corporate university prayer event.

Southwestern Missions Association (SMA) held their semi-annual week of prayer the first week of February which coincided with the AG college joint prayer. SAGU administrators and student leaders led prayer for SAGU’s Mission Ten summer trips, gender populations, the Muslim people group, and campus revival.

The Assemblies of God college prayer services simultaneously began on each campus. The Alliance asked students to pray for national government leadership, college administrators, faculty and staff, students and the needs of their families, prospective students, churches and Christian students attending secular colleges.

SAGU Student Congress President Justin James contacted each of the colleges asking for prayer requests specific to their campuses. “Our connection allowed us to follow-up with other student congress presidents to find out how each campus’s meeting went. They, too, had a substantial number of students. Although nothing has been solidified, we discussed the idea of a live stream in the future so that schools can participate together.”

SMA’s Vice President of On-Campus Ministries Rochelle Luebke estimated more than 150 people in attendance despite the inclement weather.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) is a private, Christian university located in Waxahachie, Texas. The University was established in 1927, and now offers more than 60 associate, bachelor’s or master’s degrees on campus or online.
