Waxahachie, TX – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions soccer team went on the road for the final weekend of regular season play. The Lions traveled to Goodwell, OK to take on the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies. The match was closely contested and OPSU (9-5-2, 4-4-1) managed a goal each half to win 2-0 over SAGU (2-13-1, 1-7).

Lion Review

  • The two teams combined for thirty fouls in the match and seven yellow cards were issued with five going to OPSU.
  • SAGU managed only two shots in the first half to OPSU’s 11 but the second half was even with 8 shots for either team.
  • Each team finished the game with five shots-on-goal. Mazvita Chidarara (JR/Harare, Zimbabwe) led the Lions with three shots. Felipe Torres (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished with two shots-on-goal to lead the Lions.

The Next Step

SAGU (2-13-1, 1-7) will continue their current road trip by traveling to McPherson, KS to take on Central Christian College on Monday, November 4 th at 2:00 pm. The afternoon match will be the final match of the season for the Lions.
