The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball season opened up Thursday night for the Texas Snowstorm game against Champion Christian College . The Lions walked away with a win and won both halfs by double-digits, 109-77.

The first basket of the game was a breakaway layup by freshman, Nyk Mason and over a thousand ping pong balls immensed onto the court from the fans in Waxahachie . Mason and Josh Kashila led the Lions in scoring with 19 points each. Three other Lions landed in double-digits in Adrian Palacios with 16 points and four rebounds, Darian Davis connected on six buckets for 14 points and five rebounds, and Cameron Hill with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. Junior, Dareny Sims filled the stat sheet up leading the team in assists and steals with only one turnover in over 30 minutes during the game against CCC.

Stefan Tellis led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points on 11 shots and four rebounds. The Tigers had two less turnovers and a better free throw percentage than the Lions during game one. SAGU led every other category shooting percentage, rebounds, assists, blocks, and dead balls.

The Lions will travel to Tyler, TX , on Saturday for a game against Texas College . The game will tipoff against the Steers at 4:30 pm, they are 0-1 on the season with a loss to Southern University of New Orleans on October 29th.


Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
